Late Work: In life, there will always be consequences. At your age, the consequence for late work will be a conversation or 2 to help you make a plan so 'late' is not something that becomes a habit and drags you down. :)
- All assignments can be turned in within a trimester if a due date is missed.
- Each LATE assignment will be scored as if it was turned in on time (no points will be taken away because it is late).
- Each LATE assignment will be documented as LATE in the 'notes' section of the grade book and the student will have a conference with me to discuss the reason for the late assignment and ways to prevent this from becoming a pattern.
- When a student has 3 LATE assignments in a trimester, he/she will complete a reflection form in an effort to curb turning in assignments late. All LATE assignments after that will involve the student having a conference with administration and administration will contact the families.
Retakes: Most important is continued learning. If you can show what you've mastered in 1 take, great! If you need more time, great! :)
- All assignments and assessments can be retaken (as many times as a student likes) to show student growth within a trimester.
- Each retake assignment and assessment will vary slightly from the original, but the content assessed will be the same.
- To retake any assignment or assessment, the student and family will need to fill out the RETAKE FORM and follow the steps. You can access this form by double-clicking on the works 'RETAKE FORM' or pick up a hard copy from class.
Absent?: Follow these steps to success so you can get caught up in a timely way when you're back and/or while you're out. :)
- Step #1: Visit the DAILY AGENDA and CALENDAR tabs for what you missed and links to assignments.
- Step #2: Email me from home if you have any questions about what you missed and/or assignments. You can also reach out to friends/classmates to get this information.
- Step #3: If you would like to go over what you missed with me when you are back at school, please come see me 1) before school starts 2) ask if you can meet with me during lunch 3) after school or 4) during the first 20 minutes of FLEX. Please DO NOT talk to me about your absence at the beginning of class because I will not be able to give you my full attention as I am putting my energy into setting up you and your classmates (30ish people!) for a successful class period. :)
Studying Tips:
When you have something you need to learn and remember, try these out! It is important when you study, that you pick a strategy that works for you and stick to it for about 10 minutes at a time, 3 times a day. Remember, if you want to learn anything, you need to spend time with it. :)

- The Blank Paper Test: This is a strategy that worked better than any other for me! What you need to do is study your topic in whatever what is effective for you (flashcards, reading the material aloud, making it visual, talking about the material with a family member or friend, watching YouTube videos, etc.). When you feel you really know the material, get a blank piece of paper and a pencil (you could even do this with a Word or Google doc if you type faster/better than you write), set a timer for 10 minutes, and write down everything you know about the topic you have been studying. When the timer goes off, read what you have written. Compare what you wrote to the material you have been studying. If there is any part of the material that you did not write down while the timer was running, that's what you need to study! Everything else you wrote, you know, and you now have a super study guide!
- Make flashcards and study them 3x a day for 10 minutes at a time. You can study flashcards on your own, with a family member, or with a friend.
- Read the material aloud. This way you are seeing it and hearing it!
- Make it visual: Draw diagrams, watch online videos about the topic, etc.
- Move it!: Make it musical (write the material as a parody of 1 of your favorite songs, etc.), act it out (create a skit, be the triangle, etc.)!
